How to learn Arabic: framework for unlocking the language

This is a book about the Arabic language. It is not a language textbook, for those wishing to learn Arabic. It does not try to teach the language. It has been written for people who are thinking of taking up Arabic, and would like some insights into what they are letting themselves in for.

Book is available for purchase at Foyles, Blackwells, Booksmart and Amazon.

Nowadays, there are many good (and bad) language programmes, institutes, books and software for learning Arabic. I want to help the learner navigate the information and options available.

This book includes the following:
- Arabic language demystified: whether it is Modern Standard Arabic or a classical dialect or the various vernaculars, this book attempts to explain it all.
- Manual for beginners: apart from the introduction, I take you straight to the practical, e.g. where to study, and leave the theory towards the end, e.g. what is Arabic.
- Especially catered for those who come from a non-Arabic speaking background and grew up outside of the Middle East.

Read this book if you want to master the Arabic language with the minimum time, cost and effort. If you are a native Arabic speaker, then this text is not really for you. However, you might find it useful if you are teaching Arabic.
